Resize and compress images free in your browser: by percent, max width or exact size, convert to WebP/JPG/PNG, hit a target KB, batch up to 20. Nothing is uploaded.
How to resize and compress an image
- Drop one or more images on the box, tap it to choose files, or paste a screenshot (Ctrl/⌘ + V).
- Pick a resize mode: a percentage, a maximum width (height follows the aspect ratio), or an exact width × height.
- Choose the output format and quality. To hit an upload limit, enter a target size in KB — the tool searches for the highest quality that fits.
- Download each image, or use “Download all”. Changing any setting re-processes instantly.
Which format should I choose?
| Format | Best for | Transparency | Typical size |
|---|---|---|---|
| WebP | Web pages, most photos and graphics | Kept | Usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at similar quality |
| JPG | Photos for email, forms and older software | No (filled white) | Baseline |
| PNG | Screenshots, logos, line art that must stay pixel-exact | Kept | Largest for photos; quality slider and KB target don’t apply |
Good quality settings
- 80 is a safe default for photos: hard to tell from the original, much smaller.
- 60–70 is fine for thumbnails and previews.
- Below 50 artefacts become visible on close inspection.
- Shrinking dimensions saves far more than lowering quality: halving width and height cuts pixels by 75%.
Note: metadata such as EXIF camera data and GPS location is not copied to the output, which also helps privacy. iPhone HEIC files open only in browsers that can decode them (mainly Safari).
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing and compression use your browser’s canvas engine on your device; no image is sent to a server.
How do I compress to a specific size like 200 KB?
Enter 200 in “Target size KB”. The tool searches for the highest JPG/WebP quality that fits. If it can’t fit, reduce the width as well.
Which format gives the smallest file?
Usually WebP, then JPG. PNG is lossless and best for screenshots or logos, but large for photos.
Can I resize several images at once?
Yes, up to 20 at a time with the same settings. Use “Download all” to save them.
