Melty: Free Windows AI Game-Mashup Launcher (Official Guide)
Melty is a free Windows desktop launcher from Stella Montis Inc. (Y Combinator–backed) that installs mashups and mods for games you already own. Press Play and Melty downloads the mashup, installs what it needs, and starts the host game; uninstalling restores the changed files. You must own the required games — if one is missing, Melty opens that game’s store instead of providing a copy. Official site: melty.world (also melty.gg); official download: melty.world/download. This page is facts-only from Melty’s public docs. We do not host mashups, mods, or game files.
What Melty is (and is not)
| Field | Fact (from official Melty pages, checked Oct 13, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Product | Free Windows desktop app for mashups and mods |
| Publisher | Stella Montis Inc. |
| Backing | Y Combinator (shown on the Melty landing) |
| Price | Free — Melty and its mashups are free; you still pay publishers for base games you do not own |
| Platform | Windows only on the public download page (no macOS/Linux download listed) |
| Requires | Games you already own / have installed |
| Not | A browser game, a pirate download site, or Melty Blood (the fighting-game series) |
A mashup (Melty’s term) is a mod that joins two games into one experience. Melty’s own example: SkyCraft — play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition as a Minecraft player. Other mashups named on the landing include Elden Craft, Super Mario Ring, Skate Warfare, Portal Life, and Spartan Warfare. Those names are product examples only; we do not link or host mashup packages.
How it works
- Download Melty from the official download page.
- Run Melty Setup from your Downloads folder; it installs in a few seconds and opens Melty.
- Pick a mashup in Discover (mashups use games you already own).
- Press Play — Melty downloads the mashup, installs what it needs on your PC, and starts the host game.
- On multiplayer mashups, Play also gives an invite link you can keep private, share with friends, or open publicly.
- Uninstall a mashup to restore the game files Melty changed.
Melty does not replace Steam, Xbox, or the Minecraft launcher — it sits on top of copies you already have.
Publishing your own mashup (as Melty describes it)
Melty’s FAQ says you can copy Melty’s instructions into Claude Code or Codex, describe the mashup, and let the agent build and publish it. Uploads are checked for dangerous files; Melty says you can report a mashup from its page if it looks wrong.
System requirements
Melty itself is a small Windows desktop app. The heavy requirements are the two (or more) games you mash — use each game’s own store page for CPU, GPU, and disk needs. Public Melty pages mark the download as free for Windows; there is no macOS or Linux installer on the public download page we checked.

Safety checklist
- Download only from
melty.worldormelty.gg. - Ignore third-party “Melty free download” mirrors and search ads that wrap installers.
- Melty states every upload is checked for dangerous files; still treat community mashups like any mod — keep backups and use Windows Defender / your antivirus.
- Melty does not supply base games. Missing titles open their store.
- We never host mashups, cracked games, or “free Steam unlock” links.
Legality notes (facts, not legal advice)
- Melty’s public docs say mashups run on games you own, and missing titles open the store — Melty does not provide pirated copies.
- Modding and cross-game mashups can still sit in a legal-gray area under each publisher’s Terms of Service / EULA. Read the EULAs for the games you mash; this page does not claim Melty mashups are authorized by every publisher.
- This guide is informational. It is not legal advice.
Not Melty Blood
Melty Blood is a long-running 2D fighting-game series (Type-Moon / French Bread and related releases), unrelated to Stella Montis’s Melty launcher. Searches for “melty games” often mix the two. If you want the fighter, look up Melty Blood / Type Lumina on the official fighting-game channels — not Melty’s download page. (There is also an older community utility historically called MeltyLauncher for Melty Blood controllers; that is a different project.)

Can I make my own mashup?
Melty’s FAQ says yes: copy Melty’s instructions into Claude Code or Codex, describe what you want, and publish. Uploads are scanned for dangerous files.
Is Melty an AI code editor?
This page covers Melty the free Windows AI game-mashup launcher from Stella Montis Inc. (melty.world / melty.gg). Unrelated products sometimes also use the name “Melty.” If you meant Melty Blood (the fighting game), that is also different — see the Melty Blood FAQ on this page.
